Enforcing existing animal welfare rules

Dan spoke on the "new animal welfare strategy" debate in Strasbourg. As a passionate animal welfare supporter, he argued that instead of new legislation, we need to focus on enforcing the existing laws.

Dan said:

“We have the strictest animal welfare rules in the world, but if they are not enforced they are worthless. There is no point in having a new animal welfare strategy unless we recognise that the existing laws are widely ignored and are often only given lip service by many member states”.
