West Midlands MEP Dan Dalton is asking for input on pesticides policy from farmers and other stakeholders in the West Midlands after he was appointed to a special committee reviewing EU pesticides policy.
The committee was set up in the wake of the political battle over the renewal of the herbicide glyphosate's licence for use in the EU.
After his appointment Dan said:
"Political interference last year led to massive uncertainty for farmers whose livelihoods depend on using glyphosate."
"In this committee I intend to look at how we ensure decision-making on pesticides is in future led by scientific evidence."
"The UK and EU agriculture markets will remain closely associated after Brexit so getting EU policy right on pesticides is good for Britain in the long term as well."
